Modern Austrian Literature, the journal of the Modern Austrian Literature and Culture Association (MALCA, formerly International Arthur Schnitzler Research Association), is published quarterly. Published contributions have been submitted to blind peer review and are indexed in the MLA International Bibliography.

Specifications for Reviews
Our reviewers are experts in the field of Austrian literature and culture and are identified by their publication and presentation record. We welcome new reviewers and continuously add new names to our database; however, we do not accept unsolicited reviews. If you are interested in reviewing books for MAL or having a book reviewed in MAL, please contact the review editor.Once assigned, MAL book reviews are due three months after receipt of the selected book. The word limit is a strict 900 words; longer reviews will be returned for revision. Upon receipt, each review is edited by the book review editor and proofed by the technical editor, and the editorial team reserves the right to reject reviews deemed unsuitable for publication. Generally reviews appear in MAL within 6 months of their submission.
